The calculation of earth pressure is the key to design of foundation pit, engineering practice show that limit earth pressure needs a certain level of displacement, and the relationship bebween earth pressure and displacement is nonlinear. In actual enginerring the displacement of foundation pit does not necessarily reach the limit displacements expacially in first and second class foundation pit, whose displacement is strictly restricted, considering the effect on surrounding buildings. Therefore, the study on computation theory of earth pressure considering effects of displacement is of great importance to the improvement of the design of foundation pit.Through curve fitting of experiment data and observed data, the feasibility of hyperbolic earth model has been verified; The physical meaning of parameters in hyperbolic earth model and the method for determining initial horizontal foundation modulus have been studied; the displacement of limit earth pressure of hyperbolic earth pressure model and its rationality was studied; earth pressures of different soil layers have been caculated in different movement doses of retaining wall and the corresponding curves have been drawn, and then summarize change trend of the curves and comes to the conclution that the change trend is similar to the results of experiment data and observed data. The rationality of hyperbolic earth pressure model has been verified further by three computation examples and an engineering application example which are given in the end. This paper concludes that hyperbolic earth pressure model can accurately model the nonlinear properties of the relationship between earth pressure and displacement; hyperbolic earth pressure model has few parameters that can be easily determined, which show that the model has good practicablity.
