With the rapid development of the power industry and the increasingly high voltage of transmission lines, the compact transmission lines also haved been widely used. This paper by studying the relevant theories of the compact electric transmission lines on domestic and foreign, deduces a new formula method to calculate the surface electric field intensity of compact transmission lines. The method can better reflect the surface charge and electric field intensity along the circumference of the cable distribution, and provides some theoretical basis for compressing the phase distance of transmission lines, reducing the electric field intensity under the ground, optimizing the layout of the transmission lines. The paper is about the electric field intensity,s theoretical study of the compact transmission lines. Based on the traditional calculation method, by introducing a concept of continuous distribution charge, uses a mathematical method of linear interpolation, puts wire along the circumferential direction subdivided into the same unit, derives a new equation of potential expression, and uses the numerical analysis method , analysis compact transmission lines based on the actual. This method takes the uneven distribution of charge along the wire surface, according to the characteristics of three-phase alternating voltage, uses the phasor method to calculate and analyse, makes the analysis closer to reality. The paper uses the Visual Basic 6.0 programming software to calculate. By changing the parameters of lines(early phase of voltage, distance of phase to phase etc), calculates the electric field intensity distribution along the surface of the transmission lines, the charge distribution of each phase and each split lines, and conductors a detailed analysis and comparison results of each phase, analysis of the impact of some factors that lead to the field surface, and comparies the distribution of the field intensity above ground by using several different arrangements of the transmission lines.
