Researching to the train real-time positioning and the data real-time transmission and applying it to the train scheduling, have practical significance to enhance the train running security, improve the railroad service level and realize the highly effective operation management. This paper proposed application of GPS in train scheduling system to improve security and efficiency, by analyzing and summarizing the application of GPS technology in different field, at the same time, the area of GPS technology is extended more.In this paper, through analysising the respective charactericstic of the kilometer label positioning, the inquiry/responder positioning, the GPS positioning three kinds of positioning methods which are commonly used, determines to uses the GPS positioning and the kilometer label positioning as the positioning plan for this design according to the demand of train positioning and using the available positioning equipment to realize the train positioning for low cost.In the view of the characteristic of the train scheduling system's wireless communication, carrying on the comparison to the respective characteristic of the microwave communication, the trunked mobile communication, the satellite communication and the GSM cell mobie communication's short messages service to transmit information between the vehicular controller and the train scheduling center.Based on the positioning plan anle communication, considering the cost and the reliability, choose the GSM mobild data transmission plan which have been choosed, introduce the vehicular controller composition structure and each composition module's function from the whole, expound every module's hardware circuit design of the vehicular controller, including the information processing and control module circuit design, the GPS module application circuit design, the train running monitoring recording equipment application circuit design, GMS module application circuit design and some auxiliary circuit design.According to the hardware circuit which hase been designed, introduce the entire vehicular controller's work flow and the main program flow, and elaborate every module's software design. According to the function which modules should complete, determine the mentality of module's software design, and introduce every module's software program flow in detail, including GPS module software design, GSM module software design, LCD module software design, keyboard software design. Especially, elaborate receiving and processing GPS positioning information in detail.Carry on the software and hardware debugging to the vehicular controller. the debugging result demonstrate the designing plan of this system is correct and feasible, the vehicular controller can realize the basic function , such as the data transmission, and correct response the control command and so on.Finally, made the summary to the full paper and also points out aspects of the system that needs to be improved and extended. Then give some advices for the next step development about the system in the future.
