It is important to improve the running performance of dock drainage pumping station, which is the basilica outbuilding of the boatyard or dockyard. Based on the background for the dock drainage pumping station, which will be built, this paper systemically studied on inlet system which influents the hydraulic performance, adopting 3D-turbulence numerical simulation technique and the model experimentation from parts to integer.A typical inlet system of the dock drainage pumping station includes the forebay, conduit and the suction box etc. This paper studied the dual-directional inlet passages mostly. In the original design basis, to analyse the flow pattern about different inlet flow rate. For the basic dimensions of the conduit, which includes the width and the height and so on. This paper optimized these dimensions by the object functions about the uniformities of velocity distributions and the weighted average angle of the profile. The inner flow pattern and various types of vortices in the reversible intake passage with transverse clapboard and without transverse clapboard are predicted. A general conclusion is that, without clapboard there is floor vortex under pump suction; with clapboard there is few floor vortex. The velocity distribution at pump suction with clapboard is better than without clapboardPumping station forbay is an important part of pumping station, and the hydraulic characteristic of the pumping station forbay has a direct influence on the efficiency of a pump. Different of other forbays, the forbay of the dock pumping station have a cylindrical infall. This paper analyzed the inner flow pattern of the forbay with rectifying bar and without rectifying bar under different depth and flux.During the operation of the pumping station units, it is possible that have one or more units are working. This paper simulated the all intake system, under the situation of multi-working state of units, analyzed the inner flow pattern and compared between the numerical simulation and the model experimentation. The results showed that the numerical simulation is feasible.
