The main purpose of the present study is to attempt to develop software based on relatively simple method that is finite prism method. It is proposed to develop this software for the analysis of three dimensional bridge structures, with a view to overcome the complexities or limitations of the conventional methods used for the static analysis of short / medium span simply supported bridges. Simplicity of the method and requirements of the less time and computer core make it preferable to other methods. The combination of Fourier series and finite element expansion is used, in finite prism method, to construct three dimensional prism element of constant cross-section. Using this method the three dimensional problem is reduced to a series of two dimensional one due to the decoupling properties of the chosen Fourier series terms. The accuracy of the method is shown in the static analysis of the straight and curved plate examples subjected to uniformly and concentrated load. The capability of the method in the analysis of three dimensional straight or curved box-girder and deck girder bridges has been demonstrated. Comparison of results with the available published data is carried out to check the reliability of the method.
