It is well known that air entrainment could mitigate cavition erosion. To study the effect of air entrainment conveniently, a new test device was designed based on analysing various cavitation erosion test devices. The new device can measure the effect of different air entrained method on cavitaion erosion protection. The principle of the device is that, magneto-striction oscillator leads to cavitation erosion, air supply systerm provides steady air flow, bubble gengerating system produces uniform small bubble which could mitigate cavition erosion. Several groups of experiments were performed to investage the degree of cavitation erosion protection on steel Q235. The experimental results show that the loss weight of sample decrease evidentl)' and the acceleration erosion period is shorten when air is injected in the form of small air bubble. At steady erosion period, loss weight of sample is linear with test duration. It indicated that the avoiding erosion area of sample is a circular band, and the area increase as the air pressure and entrainment area increase.
