when the tunnel constructions were happened in hydraulic and waterpower ,railways, highway and mines, There were always many geological disasters ,which did a lot of harmful to the constructions and builders, such as water bursting and rock burst, etc. The geological advance prediction could solve these problems effectively. The traffic tunnel of JinPing II hydropower station was studied. Firstly, the areal geology condition was analyzed systemically, the geological analysis method was applied to a macroscopical geological prediction, the key segments which must be noticed was showed. Then the principles of the main prediction methods were introduced particularly, such as TSP203, geological radar,BEAM method.Combined with the locale detected results, this paper mainly introduced TSP203, geological radar, BEAM methods. Some typical segments were analyzed, then each methods' excellences and shortcomings were indicated according to the comparison between each method's detected results and the excavated results. the statistical results showed that the veracity of TSP203 could reached 90% when fracture zones and weak layers were predicted, this method could be preferred in far prediction; the effect of the Geological radar was good in the predication of caves, ruptures and crannies ,it could be preferred in short prediction. And the BEAM method could predict the holistic status of Surrounding Rock and containing water perfectly, it could be a validated method for the other two.At last, the applicability of the three methods and the inapplicability of the other methods for this project were demonstrated base on the practice case, and a geological advance prediction system was developed. Otherwise, the water-bursting and rock burst which were the most important accidents in this project were discussed, some relevant advices which may be useful for the future were brought forward.
