There are many methods for the slope stability analysis, the traditional limit equilibrium method is mainly used. These years after the shear strength reduction method taken to the finite element method to analyze slope stability, the factor of safety(shear strength reduction coefficient) and the dangerous slip face are obtained straightly. The stress distribution and the process of failure development are shown also. Because of these advantages of shear strength reduction method, this numerical analysis method is the hotspot.The shear strength reduction method is carried out with FEM or FDM. The safety factor is dependent on the value of the shear strength reduced. Now, there are a few criterions, during which the numerical convergence criterion is frequently used. There are some artifical factors of this criterion. For one given slope, different factors of safety are obtained with different convergence values by different researchers. The maximum unbalanced force criterion is studied in this paper. It is indicated that the results of different examples obtained by unbalanced force criterion are well matched. The disadvantage of giving critical value is avoided by using this criterion.The maximal unbalanced force criterion is given with the Fish language of FLAC3D in this paper. The three common criterions in shear strength reduction method are compared with each other, such as the convergence criterion, the sharp change of displacement and plastic zone. Based on the method, some influences of factors of safety are analyzed.The stability of the bank slope in Longtan harbor is analyzed in the paper. The limit equilibrium method and the shear strength reduction method with FLAC3D are taken to analyze the dangerous section of the bank slope of this project. It is indicated that the results computed by the two methods in the project are similar, and the shear strength reduction method is applicable for practical project. |
