At present, power supply for Implanted Biologic Device(IBD) always use battery. Though the capacity of battery is improving, but it will run out because of no real-time power replenishment. CPT(Contactless Power Transfer) system realize safe, reliable and high efficiency contactless power transfer from stationary source to movable loads via magnetic coupling. It combines of modern power electronics, magnetic coupling technology, high power-high frequency convert technology and modern control theory and methods, which could give a constant power supply for IBD. Thanks to the development of this technology, biomedical electronics will be developed, which is of significant research importance.This paper is founded by key fund project of Science & Technology department of Chongqing and Science & Innovation Fund of Chongqing University Postgraduates, it concentrates on the external power supply for IBD based on CPT system.In the paper, research status of external power supply for IBD is briefly introduced. The principle of contactless power transfer and basic structure are analyzed later. And then some new inverters for CPT are introduced. Varieties of magnetic coupling frameworks are then analyzed and common rules for design magnetic coupling framework are concluded. After carefully study of existed power supply for IBD, the disadvantage of battery mode is discussed. The feasibility and security of external power supply are then investigated.An external power supply system is then proposed, and the direction performance of pick-up is particular researched. Which mainly including instant even magnetic field in 3D space, random rotatable pick-up and voltage adjusting.To verify the calculated results, a simulation model of external power supply system is constructed. This mode is then analyzed in PSpice software to find a better blue print. According to the previous research, a prototype of external power supply for IBD is designed. Experimental results based on this prototype verified the calculation and simulation results, which realizes random rotatable contactless power supply in 3D space. It makes a good foundation for the future research of external power supply system for IBD.
