A Study On Landscape Design In The Renew Of Historical Waterfront

As valuable resources, water not only gives birth to human, but also gives birth to the civilization of mankind. Almost every city has a river, lake or sea which has connection with it. They witness the city in the past, present and future. As the important open space of the city, waterfront not only supplies people the place where to relax and intercourse, but also takes an important role in continuing and renewing the city's history, and the development of economy. Historical waterfront is a special style of the urban waterfront, it has important historical value and culture value of the city. It usually has complete historical view and characteristic, but with the development of the society, many things have to face changing such as the waterfront's style, function and so on. On the premise of respecting the history, how to satisfy the need of renewing the landscape is the most important studying point in this thesis.On the basis of summarizing the waterfront's development process and situation, the thesis expounds the importance and the interrelation of the historical waterfront. By analyzing the renewing value of the historical waterfront, it analyzes and studies on the designing elements in renewing, and summarizes the designing methods which can keep balance between protection and renewing, and continues the history of city, making it to be the impressive and active space of the city, and enforce the charm of the city. Well, taking the Bund along Pudong River in Shanghai, the Confucian Temple along Qinhuai River in Nanjing, the Stalin Park along Songhua River in Harbin as examples, and study their deference by analyzing their historical background and situation, and evaluate their landscape from deferent views, the thesis proposes the advantages and problems, and get the advise on landscape designing which can enrich the theory of this thesis.
