As main highway in our country, the two-lane highway is most universal and longest in road network. Highway construction is a project with huge investment. Research on influencing factors of two-lane highway capacity may not only consummate relative chapters of《Technical Standard of Highway Engineering》and《Design Specification for Highway Route》, but also supply theory foundation of plan and construction for highway construction and management bureaus in China, which will play important effect in ensuring develpoment of the west regions process in order especially. The second chapter summarizes and comments on the study actuality of two-lane highway overseas firstly. And then, some productions of domestic two-lane highway study are summarized. In the end, some shortage of two-lane highway capacity and highway alignments research are pointed out, from which research direction of this paper is confirmed. The third chapter introduces data collection and dealing, including field observation equipments, collocation and data dealling method. The fourth chapter's headline is model calibration and validation. This paper calibrates the free-flow speed influencing model and vehicle model with field data. And then, the calibration results are validated at beeline, curve, slope, and combination section with another set of data. Validation results indicate that the precision meets our demand. The fifth chapter reaearches influencing of road width, direction distribution, roadside disturbance, traffic composition and highway alignment on two-lane highway capacity. Adjustment coefficients are put forward according to field data and simulation examination. Two new concepts of bendiness and hilliness are defined in the article, meanwhile the corresponding computing methods are provided. The bendiness and hilliness are classed as 4 grades according to terrain. Two-lane highway terrain is classed in detail according to 16 different combinations of bendiness and hilliness. The conclusion chapter summarizes main research results and puts forward research direction in the future.
