Comparing with Concrete filled Circular Steel Tubular Component(CCSTC),Concrete filled Square Steel Tubular Component(CSSTC) has the excellences, suchas simple joints, process conveniently, short-cycle construction, easy to adopt fireresistive material,especially for high-rise structures. But there are recently fewapplications at home and aboard. The reason is that: on the one hand, due to the axisbearing capacity and the confining ratio of the CSSTC is lower than that of theCCSTC,so the seismic behavior of CSSTC is not as good as CCSTC. On the otherhand, less studies on the seismic behavior of the frame structure with CSSTCcolumn at home and aboard currently, and shaking table tests are especiallyfew. Therefore, lacking of theory and test basis also obstruct CSSTC to apply inengineering.Concerning to the reasons above, in this paper, based on the finite elementprogram of ANSYS, the pseudo-static was finished analysis of CSSTC column andCCSTC column with different axial compressive force ratio and different confiningratio. Comparing the hysteretic behavior, ductility index of the two types of sections.A new kind of section named Concrete filled Square Steel Tubular with Channelcross Rids(CSSTCR) is puted forward, which can increase the confining ratio to theconcrete. It was proved that the seismic behavior of CSSTCR is better than that ofCSSTC.Two 30 floors,1/20 scaled frame-shear wall models which is separatelycomposed of CSSTC and CCSTC are tested on a shaking table. The dynamiccharacteristics and seismic response of the models under the Taft wave, El Centrowave and Tianjin wave are studied,with peak the acceleration were 0.2g,0.4g and0.6g. Time history analysis was finished of the two models based on the finiteelement program ETABS.The achievement can be consulted in engineering.
