Cement concrete pavement is one of the main types used in high classic highways, but usually because of various subjective and objective reasons, it has a lot of distress like empty beneath pavement slab, spurt slush, crack, breaking slab etc. To insure the service ability and quality of cement concrete pavement, it is very important to evaluate the application performances of pavements for making maintenance programs, by which to recover the service and structural performances. So with the combination of the survey and analysis of the cement concrete pavement in the typical sections in Xuchang Area of Henan Province, this paper conducted the research of evaluating the service performances and maintenance techniques of cement concrete pavement with referring to lots of related documents at home and abroad.Firstly, according to the requests for testing and evaluation in the specifications, we selected 4 sections of typical cement concrete pavement structure in Xuchang area. With the methods of information investigation, manually general survey, 3m ruler, vacillating friction instrument, Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), core samples and etc, the paper has surveyed and tested the distress conditions, riding qualities, skid resistance and structural strength of the existing cement concrete pavements, and evaluated pavement performances of the 4 sections. At the same time, the paper also has evaluated the strength and stiffness, joint load transfer efficiency and empty beneath pavement slab for surface and base with FWD, proposed the evaluation indexes of backcalculate resilient moduli for slab and base top, comparatively analyzed the method of deflection ratio and the method of modulus ratio for joint load transfer efficiency, and established a evaluation method of empty beneath pavement slab with Finite Element Method of slab on Winkler foundation model, namely comparative analysis method.Secondly, based on the evaluation results of service performances for cement concrete pavements, according to the requirements of highway classification, traffic grade, existing pavement structure type, big and middle repair, combining the design methods of pavement overlay, considering the principle of making application of local materials, technology reliability, economic rationality, and through theoretical analysis and project compare, the paper has proposed the typical structures and application guidelines of maintenance and rehabilitation for cement concrete pavements, which is suitable for the environmental and traffic conditions in Xuchang area, and has proposed temporary traffic control approaches in the construction period of maintenance and rehabilitation for different pavement width.Thirdly, the paper has summarized and analyzed cautionary notes, construction methods and key technologies for all kinds of technical measures for maintenance and rehabilitation of cement concrete pavement, and has mainly analyzed sealing-up beneath pavement slab, full-deep repairing block, asphalt concrete overlay, construction processes and key techniques of overlay.Therefore, the pavement performance evaluation results, performance evaluation methods of FWD, typical structures of maintenance and rehabilitation, technical measures of maintenance and rehabilitation and etc, all these have provided a reasonable foundation and parameters for maintenance and rehabilitation and quality guarantee of cement concrete pavement, and also has provided a reliable foundation for FWD used in cement concrete pavement to rapidly test and evaluate the pavement performances. Not only can these researches improve powerfully the maintenance management level of cement concrete pavement in Xuchang area, but also can afford reference for other areas.
