In the future decades our country will be in the period of high-speed development ofindustrialization and urbanization, and a number of new towns will emerge. It will be anurgent problem to resolve on how to plan and construct the sustainable development cityin the fast process of urbanization. Urban green space system is an important componentof City, whose functions of ecology and landscape gradually obtained recognition frompeople. Its proportion in the entire urban plot also becomes higher. The urban greenstructure is the foundational part of green space system, therefore, appropriate structurewill be helpful for the construction of urban green space and the healthy development ofcity. The thesis focused on the subject of green space system of the new town. Theknowledge of Landscape Architecture, Landscape Ecology, and Urban Planning wasapplied to summarize and compare the history of urban green space development and theinformation of four native and foreign new towns' green space system. The proper way ofurban green space systematic planning was studied under the guidance of ecologyplanning principles and methods. The thesis tried to construct the ideal model of urbangreen space systematic structure planning, and then applied the model to practice in theexample of Wuhan Science & Technology New town's green space system planning. Thelandscape pattern of Wuhan Science & Technology New town before planning and theresult after the planning was analyzed and compared. The result of analysis showed thatWuhan Science & Technology New City had fine landscape pattern of green spacestructure with the ideal model, meanwhile, the ideal model of green space structureplanning of new city is correct and feasible. The thesis is composed by four main parts as following:The first part of thesis clarified the origin, the purpose, the method of the subjeCt andthe frame of the thesis. In the second part of thesis the evolution of urban green space development wasintroduced, and the regularity and experience of urban green space development andconstruction was summarized. The thesis introduced the conception of ecologicalplanning, the development of ecological planning theory and its content, as well as themethods. The green space system of several concrete new towns such as Marne-La-ValleeTelford, Tsukuba and Suzhou Industrial Park were analyzed. The features of these newtowns'green space system were concluded. In the third part, according to the conclusion of the above analysis, the content and methods of new city green space structure planning was suggested under the guidance ofecological planning theory. The ideal model of new town green space structure withintermediary connection, natural environment, efficient and plentiful function, and finescenery was tried to be constructed. The forth part of thesis took Wuhan Science & Technology New Town as the example. The ideal model of urban green space structure planning was applied in it. And themethod of Landscape Ecology was used to analyze the pre-pattern and post-pattern of thelandscape. A green space structure of the new town with the green-center, crossing greenaxis, network green way, ecological outer ring, and scattered patch was formed finally. The thesis tried to work out the ideal model of green space structure in new town, andapplied it to the practice of Wuhan Science & Technology New Town. The result of thisresearch would provide basic theory and suggestion of the green space systemconstruction of the Wuhan Science & Technology New Town, meanwhile, it would be theuseful suggestion and guidance for the construction of new town green space system inbackground of fast urbanization in our country.
