In this paper, the reliability analysis and reliability optimization design of automatic yarn evenness tester used in yarn lab are mainly discussed. First of all, the system task reliability model is built through analyzing the system function, and system reliability is predicted and distributed based on the reliability data of other yarn evenness testers. Secondly, in spite of the reliability of software and control system, the mechanical system reliability of automatic yarn evenness tester is researched using FTA, and fault trees of each unit and system are established by analyzing its structure and function. According to system reliability theory and events probability, the mechanical system fault tree is analyzed by means of qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation, the system weak parts are found , and the ways are put forward to improve the mechanical system reliability. In addition, the reliability optimization design models of mechanical parts and mechanical system are discussed separately. Finally, based on reliability analysis, some key parts of system are designed by use of reliability optimization methods based on the probability. The engineering facts proved that this optimization method is reasonable and effective to improve the system reliability, maintenance and lower the system costs.
