Along with social progress and industrial development, the demand of worldwide for energy is growing. However, reserving quantaty of conventional energy sources (coal, oil and gas) have been continuously reducing, and conventional energy consume have caused serious pollution to the environment.So, to development clean energy has become a new study hotspot in the energy and environmental fields. Recent years,as the government attachs more and more importance to the environment and clean energy, so biogas projects and biogas technology development rapidly in rural. But it aslo cause many of problems such as the Greenhouse effect, which is cause by biogas surplus, especially in summer. Furthermore, the biogas digesters leak liquid emitting stench odor, which bring a certain degree pollution to the local environment. Biogas power generation projects can convert biogas chemical energy into electric energy , achieve the high-grade use,so it been attached great importance by government.This paper briefly introduce small and medium household biogas generation projects . By studing of the biogas engine combustion characteristics and working principle, Designed of the gas engine and match equipment.In experiment, we improved biogas-air mixer, combustion chamber and compression ratio, Ignitiondevice of the gas engine.The test results are as follows:First,when the air-fuel ratio at 6.2, The set operation is stable;at 5.7, its power characteristic is better; and at about 6.9, biogas combust completely,exhaust emissions and biogas consumption is lower.Second,increasing the compression ratio can improve thermal efficiency and is better to combust biogas, the compression ratio of series gas engine 12 is most appropriate. Experiments show the lowest starting pressure of biogas engine is 2kPa ,but the ideal biogas pressure should be 6kPa～10kPa ,Methane concentrations is not less than 50% , the best speed of ICE is 1600r/min, output voltage is 220V, the temperature of exhaust below 500℃, biogas consumption rate is about 0.52m~3/kWh.The set operate well in Xinzheng , Zhoukou and other places and solved the peak electricity demand in the summer,it can be also normal operate in winter.The biogas generating set were widely praised by users. Basic on my practice I recommendates enforce study on the biogas production rate and methane purity, biogas reserves andregulators control device.
