Sensor system is one of the most important parts of the Health-monitoring system of bridge structures. Even if much more information of structures can be captured theoretically by using much more sensors on structures, it is impossible and no need to locate sensors on all degrees in structures because of the high expenditure. To obtain the most reliable and bridge health status information and to realize gathering up information on the change of the bridge structure states with a possible few number of sensors,there exists a special way to lay down the sensors optimumly.This paper presents the methods and criterions of Optimal Sensor Placement Algorithms for Health Monitoring of Bridges. Analysis and comparison are made among them.In the third chapter, based on the optimized distribution method, the maximal non-diagonal elements of the MAC matrix that is prone to minimize, which can get relatively ideal optimized results, a optimized distribution method of transducers based on the finite analysis software—ANSYS and MAC matrix is introduced, and MATLAB computing program based on the concept is compiled. And the first eight vibrations of a pier and simple supported beam are optimized respectively. The results indicate that the method can gain more ideal optimized results. In the method, distribution of the initial positions of measuring points is not needed, which is the difference from the traditional cumulative method.Then, in the forth chapter, the distributing method of sensors of dynamic test of the cantilever bridge and the simply- supported Beam, which is of analytic solution, is expounded. In the method, the sum of the non-main diagonal elements is as objective function ,the placement of sensor is as designing variation.the signle non-main diagonal element is as constraint conditions. based on which the MATLAB computing program is compiled.
