In geotechnical engineering the horizontal and the vertical elastic properties of some foundations are different. So the mode of transversely isotropic elastic foundation is now used more and more widely, and it very well accords with the real engineering. In this thesis a new numerical method with good accuracy and high efficiency has been developed to solve the stresses and displacements of the double-layered transversely isotropic elastic foundations. The fundamental solutions for double-layered transversely isotropic elastic solids are utilized and coupled in the formula for obtaining the stresses and displacements solutions in the double-layered transversely isotropic elastic foundations. The fundamental solutions are stress and displacement fields in the bimaterial solids of infinite extent subjected to the concentrated forces. In the formula based on thefundamental solutions, there are weakly and strongly singular integrals (O(1/r) and o(1/r~2)), where r isthe distance between the source and the field points. The coordinate transform method is used to calculate the weak singular integral. The strongly singular integral can be calculated by solving linear equations, which is formed by the constitutive, boundary conditions and the transformation relation of the global and local coordinate systems.Secondly, the eight-node isoparametric elements, which are better adapted to analyze the uniform loadings and the loadings with irregular zones (for example, the circular loadings), are used to discretize the loading area.Thirdly, the program is written in Fortran and the double precision parameters are used in this program. Two examples, which have the exact solutions, are analyzed in order to verify the present method. The relative errors are calculated. It can be found that the numerical solutions are in very good agreement with the exact ones.In the end, the present method is also used to analyze four in-situ foundations examples of the roads and the buildings:(1) the mode of two adjacent rectangular loadings,(2) the problem of the foundations subjected to the truck loadings,(3) the mode of rectangular loadings with different depths,(4) the circular loadings. These results can be used in engineering applications.
