Pumping Station project is integrated system engineering that is the use of electrical and mechanical equipment and its associated structures to increase the energy of the liquid, enable it to meet the requirements of the agriculture and industry. Water supply works as a water supply or drainage, mainly for farmland irrigation, urban drainage and inter-basin water transfer and other fields. 20% -25% of the country's total annual electricity consumption is used by Pump Station. According to authorities, the device efficiency of the centrifugal pump system must not be less than 54.4%. But because of unreasonable pump selection or unit energy consumption and other factors, generally pump stations system efficiency only 30%, and some are even lower, resulting in a huge waste of energy. In addition, the security problem of pump stations (mainly be water hammer accidents) have repeatedly brought to the people's life and production losses. So research optimal selection of pump, security calculation of pump station , research the energy-saving technique of water supply works, improving the operation efficiency of pump station and realize secure and highly active operation of water supply works, which has great significance to ease up water resources shortage and conservation energy.In this paper, the theory and methods of systems engineering as principles, system Maximum efficiency or system minimum energy consumption of the system as an objective function, research centrifugal pump selection and water hammer calculation with different measures of protection, then dispatch Pump station internal unit optimal operation to ensure the secure operation and economic operation of the entire water supply works.1).By dint of powerful data storage and processing function of SQL Server database, the paper based on common types of centrifugal pump on market and found centrifugal pump database. There are 805 different kinds of centrifugal pumps and 2149 groups of main design characteristic parameters in the database.2).In the paper, system Maximum efficiency or system minimum capacity factor of the system as an objective function. Using integer programming (branch and bound method) and conventional optimization method to establish the corresponding mathematical models, determining the type and number of pump (pump type may be different), the selection result meet the number of the pump must be integer. The method may offer different models and methods for different operating objects of pump station, the software tested by practical engineer, the result is reasonable, so the software shows a certain degree of practicality. 3).According to the basic principles and methods, using characteristic line method and practical engineer, three different water hammer measures (water hammer arrester, liquid-controlled butterfly valves, air inlet and vent valve)are used for calculate water hammer .The software is tested by actual measurement data of practical engineer, the result is reasonable.4).In the paper, system Maximum efficiency or system minimum capacity factor as an objective function. establish the corresponding mathematical models, and use varying speed regulation or reducing regulation to optimize pump unit operation of pump station, realizing the goal that pump station economic operation.5).Using Interface clear and face to object visual programming software——Visual Basic, and adopt powerful data storage and processing function of SQL Server database to exploit good interface, high interactive, credibility performance and simple operating computer system software of pump station.The emphasis of research are optimal selection of centrifugal pump, water hammer calculation and optimize pump unit operation of pump station ,but the questions need profounder research that mixed-flow pump and axial pump optimum selection and multi-stage pump station optimal dispatch .
