The balance thermoscope with high precision based on MSP430 microprocessor has been studied in this paper. This instrument was characterized by high precision, wide temperature measuring range, good anti-interference ability and working stably.Firstly, this paper introduced general ways of temperature measurement, main points and developmental trend of the temperature measurement system. The features of MSP430 MCU was also referred which was the core of data processing. The temperature sensor DS18B20 was used to measure environmental temperature for the cold-junction compensation of thermocouple. Then, the paper also presented the working principles of the meter including main hardware modules function realizing and selection of IC chips in hardware circuit. In the software design, the interface programs designs between A/D,D/A, display modules and MSP430 were emphasized. At last, the fitting method of data based on measured data was mentioned.Experiment results shows that the thermoscope has met the requirement of high control accuracy and high reliability. The paper also has enumerated main problems and resolutions. The proposal of designing the thermoscope based on embedded system platform was also given in the end.
