Chinese High-Platform Architecture

In the three thousand years of history in China, the high-platform architecture was the mainstream type of buildings at least a thousand years."The high platforms and pavilions, the beautiful royal palaces"were the prevailing architecture style from the Spring and Autumn Period to the WEI and JIN Dynasty. The Zhao Congtai of the Spring and Autumn Period in Handan was one of them those so far left and Well known by the whole world. At present, Zhao Congtai was still kept intact as the Provincial Cultural Protection Units, and has become a symbol of Handan city. But the present researches on high-platform architectures including Congtai were almost based on the archaeological and the historical aspects. Well few researches were done in the architectural domain. The high-platform architecture was the evidence that Chinese buildings once try to develop to the high-altitude. Therefore, it's important to research the high-platform architecture by representative Congtai. On the one hand, this study may as far as possible to make clear the high-platform architecture's history and supply a gap of this type of architecture's research through not only ascertained its definition, characteristics and the cultural context but also found its tendency of generation, fading and evolution; On the other hand, this investigation on the high-platform architecture by representative Zhao Congtai are also helpful to enhance the status of Handan as a Historical and Cultural City and promoting develop the cultural relic preservation of the same rank cultural relics.Under the guidance of Marxism-Leninism materialistic view, this paper adopted the specialized history research route. At firstly, to define the high-platform architecture by combining the literature textual research and the archaeology textual research way in view of architecture. Secondly, the architecture's background was analyzed in-depth from history, geography, culture and other multiple perspectives. It can guarantee the efficiency and nicety of the researches on the ancient Chinese high-platform architecture and Zhao Congtai powerfully by the way of combining theory with practice and history with literature. And the writing original intention which approached the ancient Chinese architecture history facts as far as possible, and found the rules to make the correct interpretation had achieved too. Through the whole process, we can see that the appearance of each kind of building has its profound historical background. The appearance of the high-platform architecture has broken the usual one-sided understanding to the Chinese traditional architecture. The connotation of this thought still has the positive significance to today's architecture design.
