3D visualization for pipeline network has important meaning on expressing complex special relation between pipelines, presently, many institution have been studying on the method of 3D visualization for pipeline network. Based upon the visual assembly relevant technologies, method of visualization for pipeline network based on virtual assembly was presented. Firstly, the assembly modeling is researched and discussed, the data transformation between CAD system and virtual assembly system is realized, and the model adaptive to scene assembly for pipeline network is presented. This model provides good information supports for expressing the information of assembly model levels, assembly relations and features. Secondly, advanced algorithms and technologies of collision detection are synthesized, a appropriate realization method is developed. the three-dimensional bounding boxes are obtained ,which be used as preliminary judgment, objects that bounding boxes did not intersected are rejected. Then the intersectant checking of hierarchical bounding box is carried on, the potential segment is confirmed. And the geometry cell that bounding boxes intersected are calculated through Boolean operation, as a result, precise collision detection is realized. Thirdly, the architecture and the function modules of scene simulation system for pipeline network are analyzed and established. Under virtual assembly environment that we established, user can make interactive operation on assemble target in real-time, and can adjust the moving and posture of assembling parts according to assembly environment and information of colliding. Finally, the scene simulation system for pipeline network is developed by VC++ 6.0, OpenGL is applied as the input interface platform of VR here, the feasibility and validity of the method are confirmed through the system.
