With the rapid development of virtual manufacturing technology in manufacturing industry, virtual assembly technology, which is an important part of virtual manufacturing technology, has become the focus of people's attention. For longer manufacturing cycle and lower quality of the aircraft, the traditional aircraft assembly technology based on manual operation, has become difficult to meet the requirements of the development of aircraft assembly. Exploring the virtual assembly technology of aircraft is becoming more and more important.In this paper, the assembly line of a light aircraft is studied, and the layout of assembly line and the optimization of assembly line balance are discussed. Then for the virtual riveting of the assembly line, the application of virtual hand in virtual riveting and the technology of collision detection in virtual assembly are proposed.The balance of U-shaped assembly lines for a light aircraft is studied. The concept of capacity index is put forward, which makes the assembly line balance more in line with the production practice of the enterprise, and fills the gap between theoretical research and practical research. Based on the ability index, the balance of the type I U-shaped assembly lines based on genetic algorithm and the type II U-shaped assembly lines balancing problem based on the Memetic algorithm are discussed.The application of virtual hand in virtual riveting knowledge base and reasoning is studied. Based on the structure of human hand, a hierarchical model of virtual hand is constructed. This paper defines virtual hand posture based on the riveting task and establishes the virtual hand knowledge base. Finally, based on the XML technology, dynamic XML expression of the virtual hand knowledge base and reasoning are realized.According to the virtual assembly of a light aircraft, an improved collision detection algorithm based on bounding sphere-AABB bounding box is proposed, which improves the efficiency of collision detection in virtual assembly.
