With the vigorous development of communications of highway in China, more and more large-span bridges are being built. Of them, suspension bridge's ability in span is the largest so far, and all-welded closed steel box stiffening girder is used commonly in large-span suspension bridge.The influence of wind loading is vital to the large-span suspension bridge, and has been studied for many years and has obtained many fruits. However, only a few people introduced variational principle to study the influence of wind loading. In this dissertation, I try to introduce variational principle to study the internal force and deformation of suspension bridge. The main contents of this dissertation are as followed:To ready for establishment of computation model by analyzing the components of suspension bridge and details. To establish a simplification model of large-span suspension bridge by applying ANSYS software and compute approximately the influence of static wind, so that to point out the danger position and reduce the working quantities for the precise computation. The variational integral method is introduced to deduce quasi-complementary principles for elasto-statics non-conservative system, and for elasto-dynamics boundary value problem and initial value problem. Three quasi-complementary principles mentioned above are applied for the research of internal force and deformation of suspension bridge, which is the precise computation method for this kind of problem.
