Snowfall always happens in north part of our country. And the snow or ice on road will significantly affect the traffic and bring damages to both people's life and national economy. The deicing salt now used not only damages the road but also pollutes the environment. And the machine method of snow removing could not romove the snow clearly and could affect the traffic during removing process. So a more energy-saving and effective way to remove the snow is needed urgently.Solar-heat storage in soil snow melting system is a deicing method which uses solar heat storaged in soil in summer. It is safer, more effective and more energy-saving. So many roads including sideway, highway, grade, bridge and hospital emergency inlet and so on are all installed the solar heat storage in soil snow melting systems. In this paper, the "pipe-soil-snow coupling model" has been developed to study the snow melting mechanism. Temperature fields of soil and snow are obtained. The propagation of the phase interface is also calculated. At the same time, the relationship between melting time and the geometry parameters such as diameter, pipe spacing and depth of the pipe in different environmental conditions are acquired. Based on this model, the research of the snow melting mechanism has been deepened by considering the snow as porous medium and adding a more practical two-node model. And the two models have been compared and the differences between them have been analysed. At the same time, the road heat storage in summer has been studied. Average road temperature, average outlet temperature and the amount of heat storage varies with suntime in one day has been acquired. The relationship between the system parameters, such as inlet velocity and conductive coefficient and the system performance has been discussed. In this paper, The GAMBIT was used to constitute physical model. The Fluent software was used to carry out the numerical simulation study .The results can be considered as basic references for the design and optimization of the solar-hydronic snow-melting system.
