Since the 1980s, the highway construction obtained fast development, our country's highway is entering a high speed development time. But along with the highway traffic development, the volume of traffic increases, the axle load increases and the canalization and so on, set a higher request to the structure and performance of the road surface. At present strengthens the asphalt pavement, enhances the quality of the asphalt pavement, lengthens the road surface the service life, enhances the investment benefit, is the important topic which the current road workers must be faced.Reviews our country's asphalt pavement history, the asphalt pavement development and the reform, actually is the history which the road surface material transforms. After many years of the domestic and foreign first-class highway construction and the management practice, although road surface is ameliorated in quality and technology, the universal question which is the road durability and the early destruction of the pavement structure is still existed. At present, to explore new types of road surface material is becoming a new research aspect. The fiber is one kind of extremely noticeable asphalt mixture chemical additive which is appeared in recent years. To add the hollow polyester fiber into the asphalt mixture is a good way to solve the question which is the early destruction of the pavement.On the base of asphalt mixture with hollow polyester fiber added, the effect of adding hollow polyester fiber on performance of asphalt mixture was studied. By freeze-thaw split cycle test to appraise the water stability of the asphalt mixtures, by wheel tracking test to appraises the high-temperature stability of the asphalt mixtures. The test results indicate that the hollow polyester fiber has a good performance in the asphalt mixture.
