Motion conceptual design is pivotal and creative step in mechanical manufacture, its research is very important for facilitation of innovation of mechanical product and development of intelligent design. The model of computer aided for automated conceptual design based on the characteristic state space theory and the automated conceptual design methodology for the mechanical system is founded and the new computer aided software for it is developed in this paper, which is part of program named the characteristic state space model and integration system of mechanical system intelligent design that is Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China.The database for basic unit information is created. Motion transfer relation namely kinematical state transformation equation between input and output of basic unit is analyzed from the view of kinematic characteristic information transformation, and then its transfer process is converted into characteristic state transformation. Thus kinematical transformation expression namely motion transformation matrix information of basic unit is obtained in order to it characteristic information is translated into data structure that can be identified by computer.The extraction and transformation of the design requirement of input and output kinematic functions transformation is realized. The inner relation of the kinematical transformation of combination patterns is studied. The transformation rule of characteristic of kinematic characteristic is researched too. According to combination patterns, information expression namely transformation matrix characteristic information of generalizes system is extracted with analyzing of kinematical state transformation equation between input and output of system namely generalized characteristic state equations.The decomposition algorithm flow of transformation equation is designed. The matching combination pattern is chosen with the input and output transformation information of system. The extraction and transformation for characteristic information in generalizes system state matrix is implemented in order to complete the design model of decomposition algorithm, then the transformation rule of matrix in basic coordinates and system coordinates are obtained with generalizes orientation coordinates transform function. The algorithm of matrix decomposition in series and in parallel are implemented in accord with operation process, meanwhile these algorithms also can be arranged flexibly in different combination patterns. The system state matrix can be decomposed into an ordered sequence of sub-matrices in type and orientation with those algorithms. Moreover, the knowledge database with RDBMS is managed to store and operate the basic unit transformation information and found complicated relation between data flow ,then search algorithm and check algorithm from characteristic are implemented so that automatic conceptual design is achieved in theory.According to design process, system data structure model is built up by SQL Server Enterprise and data interaction between database and system is supported by ADO.NET and XML so that computer aided software system for automatic conceptual design can be developed by Visual Studio 2005 and some design patterns.When some instances are used, this software system that is basic platform for continued model can calculate automatically and get the result meets the requirement in practice, which proves its feasibility and availability.
