With the growth of national economy and power load, electrical network capacity has increased rapidly in China. More and more 600 MW pulverized coal-fired units with high capacity and parameters have been used. Based on the research on the No.3 and No.4 boilers located at Jiaxing Power Plant, this paper studied the process of thermal design and calculation on a 600 MW boiler.Based on the analysis of the current situation of 600 MW pulverized coal-fired boiler at home, the theraml system of the No.3 and No.4 boiler located at Jiaxing Power Plant second phase project, the method of boiler steam temerpature adjustment, and the basic structure, including superheater, reheater, economizer, and the water flow, were introduced at the first section of the dissertation. Then the methods for boiler thermal calculation were stated, especially the methods for the temperature at the outlet of the furnace, which are based on the former Soviet Union standard issued in 1973. Feasible formula for the calculation of the temperature mentioned above was chosen according to the temperature measured at the daily operation. And then the main operation parameters, including flue gas temperature, hot air temperature and burner, were selected according to the calculation results.At last, detailed calculations were carried out to design the parameters of the boiler component operated with rated load and designed coal. Further calculations on the variation load and coal were carried out at the following part. Based on the results, the influence on the temperature, heat distribution, by warm water, Flue gas velocity, heat transfer coefficient, boiler efficiency, ashes and RO2 gases and water vapor by the variation of the load and coal was analyzed.
