Driving technique of high speed EMU is always one of the importance of EMUresearch.As the EMU key component,coupling is the decisive factor of drivingtechnology scheme and the nodus of design.Combinating with the scientificresearch project of Ministry of Education and innovation team of 2005,modern railvehicle and correlated technology, the paper comparatively analyzes the couplingtechnology of three kinds of typical foreign high speed EMU,and provides thesolution scheme of using crown gear coupling in driving system of domestic350km/h high speed EMU.The crown gear coupling used in E2-1000 EMU has series of advantages suchas little volume,lighter weight,easier to machine, manufacture, dismantle andmaintain etc..The paper carrys through study on the key technology nodus including figureand contact status of gear surface,and provides a kind of design scheme of crowngear coupling being the same with 350km/h high speed EMU bogie, combinedwith analysis of kinematics,mechanics and structure of coupling. At first,the paperprovides the structure style and dimension parameter of the coupling according tocorrelative material and the content about gear coupling in Gear handbook, and anew thinking and method for the determination of coupling structure dimension.Secondly, the paper analyzes its kinematics and mechanics,through which, we candraw a conclusion that the structure dimension of the coupling meets runningcondition requirement;reasonably controlling the bounce of the input and outputaxis can increase its transmission efficiency.At the same time,based on structureand mechanics analysis,the paper makes a parametric modeling of the couplingbased on ANSYS/APDL Language according to the advantages of parametricmodeling,such as conveniently modifying model,saving design time etc.,andaccomplishes its strength analysis.As a result,the coupling strength meetspermissible requirement.Parametric modeling provides a new thinking and methodfor complicated structure modeling.Finally, the shape of crown gear is relativelyspecial,so its processing and manufacturing has a certain difficulty.Combined withdomestic mechanical processing level,the paper discusses its materialselection,manufacturing,lubrication and sealing etc.. Importing, digesting,absorbing and innovating is an important way to improvethe ability of independent innovation. Through digesting and absorbing thetechnology of the crown gear coupling used in E2-1000 EMU of Japan,which willmake for mastering the key technology, it would provide help for the research anddevelopment of the crown gear coupling used in 350km/h high speed EMU as wellas play an important role in promoting the development of high speed EMU.
