This paper also discusses the applicability of the calculation formula for volume and scouring or siltation amount. By comparatively analyse, deduce out formula and applicable method for calculation of capacity and siltation or scouring amount, carry on the precision appraisal to the calculation result. According to error matching theory, combined with observed data chose form the Yellow River, the paper gives the rational density of cross section for siltation volume survey of the lower reach of Yellow River and makes a proposal on the density adjustment of survey cross section over the lower reach of Yellow River. Based on the analysis of these issues, can we solve some matters which are concrete problem in harnessing the Yellow River. It summarizes the paper systematically, put forward some theory, obtains a few achievements. The achievements obtained on the Yellow River, can also be applied to other river and drainage area. It not only expands the research area of hydrologic survey but also has some reference value to other river.
