Caisson is a main base type of deep basis and structures in deep ground. It is applied widely in engineerings. For example, it is used as the basiss in bridges, floodgates and ports, and as pump room, underground electric power plants and mine-used-silo in municipal engineering. Recently, It has been main base bype of engineering structures, especially underground structures in soft areas. The caissons supported by piles effectively escape from problems of beyond-sink, deflection in.basis in soft areas. It has received satisfactory effects in engineering applications.Through the design of the basis of dam in Hongshiyan hydropower stations , the paper introduced the the application of caissons supported by piles in Hydraulic Structure Engineering. The geological conditions of the dam in Hongshiyan hydropower stations are very complex, Wuling more qualitative content, bred thick. the paper analyzed the basis of the dam in Hongshiyan hydropower stations. A variety of calculations methods are used to check the stability of the pile-supported caisson . Especially, the paper used Finite-Element-Analysis programme to check the stability, sloving the problem of displacement calculation in complex structures. Through overall analysis, the paper estimates the security and rationality of the pile-supported caisson.
