The minitype omnipotence laser length-measuring instrument is a kind of non-contact vertical omnipotence length-measuring instrument, which is based on measuring principles of laser triangle and grating displacement and involved optics, laser, grating moire stripe, photo electricity sensor technology, precision mechanism, virtual instrument technology, automatism control system and computer. High speed, high precision and non-contact measuring are the characteristic of the instrument. It also has wide application foreground.This paper introduces whole design project of the length-measuring instrument. The components and the work principle of the length-measuring instrument are putted forward detailedly. It emphasizes the hardware and software design of the computer control system based on the virtual instrument technology and LabVIEW. It also carries out the mathematics model building and the computer simulation experiment of the length-measuring instrument. The experiment result indicates the design of minitype omnipotence laser length-measuring instrument according with the specification.
