Due to low mechanical loss, high efficiency, and low maintenance cost,the direct driving wind power system involving the permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG) is attracting people's attention more and more and is used gradually after doubly fed induction generator. Mastering the wind generating set's operation character and then improving it's operation efficiency is a vital research item in the field of wind power generation.Firstly, model of permanent-magnetic direct-drive wind power generation system is built and then mountain climbing method of the maximum wind energy tracking strategy is mainly studied according to the small PMSG system in our laboratory. Based on that, the simulation platform was built in PSCAD/EMTDC and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the mountain climbing method. Secondly, data monitor system of the small PMSG system in our laboratory was developed. We can get the running data of the small size wind turbine generator with the acquisition and process of such parameters as current,voltage,frequency,power and wind speed. After amendment of the simulation platform, the simulation waveforms are quite close to the running data. This proves the correctness of the simulation platform and the effectiveness of the wind energy tracking strategy.Finally, the maximum wind energy tracking strategy of the big size permanent magnetic synchronous wind turbine generator system is studied. It's simulation platform was built in PSCAD/EMTDC. After that, the simulation was made on the platform. The simulation results show that the algorithm of the optimal tip-speed ratio has remarkable result.
