Distribution network is an important segment which connects transmit electricity and electrical users. It is a window for electrical department to service electrical users.Its power supply quality influences users production and living. How to reduce the grid loss on the premise that the voltage quality is guaranteed has become an important problem which the electric power department has to urgently research and resolve. The optimal reactive power compensation is an important method to resolve it. In the light of the present situation of optimal reactive power compensation, some research has been done in the Genetic Alogorithms applied in reactive power optimization compensation for distribution power grid, and some reforms have been made in this paper on the basis of preceding researches which have improved its optimization ability.Because the the number of the compensated nodes should not be too much, this paper proposes a new algorithm to locate the compensated nodes. This algorithm is based on the characteristic of the distribution network. It reduces the search space and improves the efficiency of optimization.According to the characteristic of the distribution power grid, this paper presents a new backward/forward sweep power flow algorithm. This algorithm takes power loss and node voltage as parameters, only inputs node name and makes power flow computation convenient and efficient.This paper proposes a kind of combined search algorithm, which is combined with genetic alogorithm, simulated annealing alogorithm and tabu search alogorithm. It can gain the optimization combination of the compensated capability through this combined search algorithm. Accordingly it can reduce grid loss efficiently on the premise that the quality of voltage is guaranteed.The program on the optimization reactive compensation of distribution network is programmed by C++, and computes IEEE33-bus and IEEE69-bus systems respectively. This method of the paper is proved to be more accurate.
