Shipbuilding industry is an important mainstay industry which relates to the national defense construction and the national economy construction. Our country is the third largest country by the total amount of shipbuilding several years in succession, but has great difference in productivity with strong shipbuilding countries-Korea and Japan. To a great extent, the improvement of productivity is subject to the shipbuilding scheduling and controlling. Slipway or dock is the important establishment in the ship yard. Their throughput decides the annual output of the ship yard. Therefore, how to use the berth well, optimize the network of the block erection on the berth, equipoise the resources utilization and shorten the berth cycle designedly (in a planned way) is of great importance.Virtual simulation could simulate the real manufacture of product dynamically without consuming any physical materials, forecast the state of manufacturing system, and help enterprise make decision and plan. That's why virtual manufacture is widely used in product line simulation. Virtual simulation technology has become an effective way to solve analysis, design, control and management of complex manufacturing system. However, as an experiment method, simulation technology could only evaluate and validate the manufacturing model without any intelligent decision, so it has prevented the further development of virtual simulation technique seriously. Simulation optimization technique which has been developed in resent years has bridged the gap. On one hand, it solves the problem that traditional optimization technique can not describe the model of complex system. On the other hand, it combines intelligent decision mechanism with simulation technology. This makes sense to the simulation optimization of block erection on the berth. Encircling the following aspects, i.e. the management of block erection, materials circulation simulation, the block erection simulation and network optimization on the berth, the following main problems are studied in this paper.1. The materials circulation simulation of the berth based on QUEST According to the demand of the materials circulation simulation of the berth, task-oriented modeling method for berth resources is put forward in this paper. On the basis of this method,it realizes the task-oriented description for the berth which connects with QUEST. Basing on this technique, this paper studies the materials circulation modeling of the berth based on QUEST.2. The process simulation of the block erection on the berth based on DPM3D simulation and validation for the block erection is done according to the berth scheduling with Digital Process Manufacturing (DPM) which belongs to Dassault systems. It can analyze the manufacturability and accessibility of the product by virtue of the simulation result, and then confirm the rationality and practicability of the plan. Combining Digital Process Engineer (DPE) which also belongs to Dassault systems, using DPM for process simulation of block erection on the berth is put forward in this paper.3. Optimization of network of block erection on the berth using ant colony algorithmThe optimization of block erection on the berth is classic NP hard problem that is difficult to optimize maximally. According to the requirement of this problem, the model of dock erection network is proposed to fit the ant colony optimization,and pheromone concentration updating rule and heuristic rule of the ant colony path are discussed, that realizes the optimization of block erection on the berth. It is proved that it is an effective method with better result practically. 4. Prototype system developmentOn the basis of above studies, a prototype system"management of network of block erection on the berth"based on QUEST/DPM provided by Delmia, is developed in this paper, that realizes the simulation optimization, the resource management, the process management, the scheduling management of the network of the block erection on the berth.In virtue of on the materials circulation simulation in QUEST and the process simulation with DPM, the management of the network on the berth are studied in this paper. It is explored to be a new way to improve shipbuilding efficiency and equipoise resources.
