With the wide use of shield tunneling method in the important underground engineering in our country, it has become a major method applied in metro and tunnel construction. During the construction of shield tunnel, tail void grouting is a necessary and key procedure, which can actively control ground displacement, reduce the disturbance of structures around it and maintain the stability of the tunnel. This paper aims for the construction of South Xizang Road Tunnel in Shanghai with shield tunneling method, a series of grouting material proportioning tests and field tests were carried out. In order to analyse the influence of grouting parameters, monitoring and numerical analysis were carried out. The main works of this paper are as follows:1. Investigated and generalized the tail void grouting types, the materials and the grouting mode by home and abroad documents, gave the conclusion that inter mortar was economically and techonically suitable for slurry shield tunnel.2. Compared the advantages and disadvantages of different Tail Void Grouting with each other and generalized the calculation theory and method of grouting parameters, such as quantity and pressure of pour slurry.3. Analysed components of the mortar, sush as sand, fly ash, lime and bentonite, with soil tests, shear test and compression test. Got the strength, density, consistency, slump, PH, bleeding rate, time of setting, cohesive strength, internal friction angle, pressing factor and modulus of compressibility, and optimized the mortar match.4. Checked the dynamic force performance of the mortar match with dynamic triaxial test, and gave the conclusion that the mortar would not damage under M7 earthquake intensity.5. Improved the construction performance througth field tests, and the mortar match confirmed its good construction effect througth construction experience.6. Used finite difference method to analyse the influence of grouting parameters, such as quantity and pressure of pour slurry.
