The modern tall buildings witness the development of larger and more complicated structural types. Wind load is one of the main dominant loads when designing the tall buildings. When the tall buildings are in groups, the influences of aerodynamic force resulted from the interference among the buildings make the research of structural wind-induced response more complicated. A hexadic-tower tall building was introduced in this paper. The wind tunnel test for the pressure measurement of the rigid model and the wind tunnel test for the vibration measurement of the aeroelastic model were performed in the laboratory. The finite element models of the hexadic-towers and steel skybridge were updated using the model updating techniques. Based on the time-history analysis of the updated model, the wind resistance property of this complex hexadic-tower tall building was studied in this paper. The design & research of the Hangzhou Citizen Center was discussed entirely. The design of foundation and the selection of piles were firstly introduced. Then the structural type for the basement is selected. Also the deformation joint setting for the large structure base was described. The complexity of the hexadic-tower tall building and problems one should pay attention to during earthquake-resistance design were discussed. The influences of the connection style of the skybridge were analyzed. The corresponding design schemes for skybridge connection and structural measures were described. Based on the above methods and measures, the safety, economy and reasonableness of this project was guaranteed. Finally, the aim of harmonious incorporation among the structure design, architecture effect and city development was achieved. The design for the wind tunnel test of the aeroelastic model was introduced detailedly. Using the free-decay vibration method under an initial excitation, the natural frequencies and damping ratios of this model were tested. The reasonableness of the test model was examined. The atmospheric boundary layer around the main body structure was simulated correctly. The measurement points were arranged reasonably considering the overall test cases. The arrangement ensured the successful test. The results obtained from the test were analyzed including the analysis of displacement, acceleration, structural wind vibration loads and sectional forces under the typical measurement points in typical test cases. The wind tunnel test data of the rigid model for the Hangzhou Citizen Center was processed and then the wind time-history information was obtained. Based on the finite element software ANSYS and the sensitivity-based model updating technique, the numerical model of Hangzhou Citizen Center was established by programming codes. The time-history analysis of the hexadic-tower and steel skybridge was finished and wind vibration response characteristics for this building were obtained efficiently.
