In this paper the control theory and hardware implementation of independent photovoltaic (PV) power system is researched. Super capacitor is used as the energy storage device. The PV panel model is built in MATLAB, and the improved perturbation and observation method is tested using the model. BUCK is used as the main circuit. MOSFET is used as the switch, little driving power and fast. C8051F310 is used as the MCU of the controller. C8051F310 has 10 bits A/D which is fast and simple. Super capacitor has catastrophic fluctuation when charges or discharges. But the loads always need constant voltage and current. To cater to the need of loads, in this paper a voltage regulator and a current regulator are designed. To lengthen the super capacitor's life, over-charging and over-discharge circuits are designed. At last, an auto-switch circuit is designed for solar energy light.
