Train Control System has been a critical factor in railway transport system. While the demand on railway becomes increasingly higher, an important problem is to improve Train Control System and to application of a safe, rapid and efficient operation of train. The fast development of computer technology, communication technology, micro-electronic technology and control technology makes it possible to transmit bidirectional and high capacity information between trains and stations though radio. Communication Based Train Control System (CBTC) has been rapidly developed. The research and experiment on the Wireless Communication Based Cab Signal system (RBCS) will definitely drive the development and application status of CBTC in China.The paper outlined the development status of CBTC, both in China and in other countries. It analyzed the construction and principles of RBCS and its application on Tibet line. The meaning of this paper researching on on-board equipment and GSM-R is advanced. The main work is summarized as following:The basic structure of the new RBCS is designed in this paper. This paper emphasized on analyzing and designing the communication interface and protocol between the host computer and the external equipments. The embedded module PC104 has been applied when the display terminal is designed. The display terminal can display the cab signal and the information of station and remind the driver by voice.The system of wireless communication based on radio is studied in the paper. I designed a new type of transmission combining broadcasting and autonomous polling. The GSM-R is used to transmit information between trains and station on base of radio for wireless channel. Two base structures include point-to-point and center-to-point is studied, and the communication protocol between trains and station is designed in this paperThe function of system is validated on base of the experiments, and the reliability of the system is analyzed in this paper. It summarizes the works of this paper, and points out the direction of more studies finally.
