As a flexible base,the large stone asphalt treated base have good flexible and good ability to adapt to the deformation,it can effectively reduce the stress concentration of the pavement structure that the foce to the pavement structure will be more uniform. The bonding function with the surface is excellent and the overall capacity of the pavement will be improved. Large-scale application and research of foreignness on the large stone flexible base once again attracted attention. Domestic scholars also have begun to attach importance to research of the large stone flexible base. Based on absorbing domestic and foreign scientific research experience of the large stone flexible base , and combined with the scientific research project"Comparison and application study of the road performance with flexible base asphalt pavement"of the Community Department of Guangdong province, the paper studies the structure and performance of large stone asphalt treated base.At the beginning,this paper analyses the composition and intensity mechanism of large stone asphalt mixture. Then the skeleton dense built-in structure is discussed in accordance with the principle that the coarse aggregate of the mineral aggregate gradation form skeleton structure,and design mixed ratio with the Large Scale Marshall method.Secondly, the paper studies LSM high temperature stability,water stability,durability by wheel track test,water submerged large Scale Marshall and the freeze -thraw test,fatigue test. tests show the road performance of LSM is well. Then, the paper proves LSM′s good mechanical properties with dynamic module test,unconfined compression strength test,split test. In the end, according to the laboratory test results of LSM, full flexible test road is built; construction technology of LSM is proved. To conclude, the results above show LSM has excellent road performance. Besides, construction technics and control of large stone asphalt mixture have been researched.And lay some sensors in the structure to analyse pavement structure and research the long-term performance of pavement.
