1.PrefaceWith the rapid development of economy in China, the quantity of automobile is keeping increasing. So traffic accidents arising year after year and people have come to the realization that the automobile safety is a serious problem. how to improve the safety of vehicle performance in traffic accident, it is manufacturer, consumers and government department very concerned question to avoid or lighten passenger's injuries and deaths in the car crashes to the maximum extent. The safety of the vehicle can be divided into active safety and passive safety. Statistics of the traffic accident reason analysis indicate, in order to prevent the initiative safety happening in accident and can only avoid 5% of the accidents, so it is becoming more important to improve the passive safety of the car. The car collides face to face and the on the side collision be two types of most familiar traffic accidents. Under the transportation environment of the our country road, the on the side collision takes place Pin time the tallest trouble appearance, but the positive collision trouble result in of the death toll be the most, so open an exhibition to collide a related research to have aggressive realistic meaning face to face. In October 28, 1999, CMVDR 294 "Design Regulation for Protect Passenger in Frontal Impact" has been carried into execution. It means that the development of crash regulation in our country has catch up the international development.2. Main ContentBased on a lot of the associated papers, the significance of the automobile passive safety; the overseas and domestic study progress; the method and content of research; the theory of crash simulation; the control of parameters in software have been introduced. According to evaluation methods of body crashworthiness in developed countries, the side crashworthiness guidelines of body have been proposed in this paper.The automobile body crashworthiness has been studied using large deformation non-linear FEM theory and explicit nonlinear finite element software ESI/PAM-CRASH which is developed by a French company. The main content of this study is as follows.1, in reading the foundation of in great quantities Chinese and Foreign cultural heritage laws, passive to car safety research realm and imitate a true technique to do in the application in the car passive safety to introduce. The step of theories and calculation method collided homologous laws and experimented a method to make detailed introduction face to face to the car, and applied to to the limited dollar software gives to in details elaborate.2. The FE model of whole car has been modeled and validated: First, original CAD data have been simplified and decided which one to be used. Second, the mesh of parts were created and assembled by Hyper-mesh. Third, the simulation model of whole car was modeled by Pam-crash. Fourth, the valuable experience and modeling method were summarized during modeling process. Finally, the simulation model was validated by compare the result of test and simulation3. Modified schemes for improve the positive crashworthiness of body were proposed and validated: First, the safety problems in test and simulation were analyzed. Second, the modified scheme was chose according to experience and technology. The validity and feasibility were proved by simulated evaluation.3. Significance of PaperWith the rapid development of technology, the study on passive safety will be deep going. As a complementary method for test, simulation method can be used to save great money and time. The research in this field is not mature in our country. Simulation method was introduced in this paper to analyze the crashworthiness of body. Then according to the analysis of the structure of body, the validity and feasibility were proved by simulation method. The main significance of this study is as follows.1. The FE model of whole car has been modeled and validated and this model can be used in other positive impact simulation. All of that will lay a good foundation for the associated research in this field.2. The valuable experience and modeling method were summarized during the modeling process of the FE model of whole car. The model in this paper can be enriched in the research in the future. The parts which have been simplified also can be modeled with more details in the future. All of that will lay a good foundation for the associated research in this field.3. During the process of the modification, a lot of the associated papers were read. So the methods and technology which can improve the crashworthiness of body will be chose in the modified process. Modified scheme and the cause for modification were analyzed and the modified process was proposed. So all of these works can be a good foundation for design a new body structure or modify the old one in the future research work.
