In recent years, with the rapid growth of automobile production and sales and car ownership in our country, and the number of automobile ownership, study on the passive safety of automobile becomes increasingly prominent. Study on the safety of automobile collision runs through the process of developing vehicle. In order to ensure the safety of the occupants, one of the important approaches is to ameliorate reasonably energy absorption structure of front end and the path of energy transfer so as to improve the crashworthiness of its structure.This paper selects a commercial vehicle, conducts its front impact test by the computer simulation, and analyses its structure crashworthiness. The firstly, according to the related model and data and the laws and regulations of the front impact, the simulation system of the automobile crash is established by application of HyperMesh, and the system is solved and calculated using LS-DYNA software; secondly, in view of energy curve in solution and the response indicators in the process of the crash, and combined with the evaluation standards of the automobile crash, analysis and evaluation on the acceleration at the bottom of B pillar which is the important index of the front impact simulation and the deformation of the beam and the front-end panel is carried out; finally, based on the simulation results, the paper proposes approaches to improving the response indicators, analyses the weak link in the energy absorption area of the front end, and puts forward the improvement scheme of body structure crashworthiness. The improved scheme is simulated, and the simulation results show that the deformation of car body has been controlled effectively, which achieves the expected goal; the shape of acceleration curve is more reasonable than before, and its peak value has not changed basically; and the scheme is effective to optimize the problem that the front panel intrusion is too large.The research results of this paper accord with the basic rules of automobile collision simulation, and provides reference for the simulation of vehicle’s front impact and research on the crashworthiness of the body structure.
