| With the development of the automobile industry, the automotive design method has been dramatically different from the traditional method. The FEA (finite element analysis) has been wildly used in the fields of automotive design abroad, which has improved the efficiency and the quality of the automotive design. In order to improve the ability of automotive design and independent innovation, the modern automotive design method has been more and more applied in Chinese automobile companies.In this article the method and process of developing the FE model of a bus body has been discussed. The performance parameters such as strength, stiffness, natural mode of vibration are got by calculating the FE model. Then by comparing the performance parameters of the models with and without the skin, the effect of the skin is revealed.The parameter sensitivity analysis is used to see how the structure parameter of the bus body influences the performance parameters of the bus. According to the results of the sensitivity analysis, the appropriate parts of bus are chosen to do the size optimization. In the size optimization, design variable is the thickness of the bus body, bound variable is the first order of torsion frequency and the objective is the torsional stiffness of the bus body.Topology optimization is also used to improve the topology of the bus body. And based on the results of the topology optimization, the bus body is modify in order to improve the performance of the bus body. |
