With the abroad application of relay protection equipments in power system, especially microprocessor relay protection equipments, relay protection testing technology has been developed rapidly. Conventional analogue relay protection testing technology has been replaced gradually. Researching and developing new generation relay protection testing equipments based on advanced technology such as computer automation testing etc has become an inevitable current in relay protection testing field.A set of new type relay protection testing device based on DSP and Embedded System has been developed, referring to many research papers about this subject and the development trend of relay protection testing technology in our country. The merit of this testing device includes optimized performance, cabinet cubage, steady high speed communications, friendly interface, strong function and convenient update.Power amplifier is an important part of relay protection testing device. It is used to export high-power voltages and currents, and then drive the relay protection equipments. Power amplifier has high request for signal nondistortion, waveshape precision, output power, and function stability. Therefore, Power amplifier is a technical difficulty in the design of relay protection testing device. This paper will introduce the design of power amplifier in detail.DC regulated power supply is an auxiliary equipment of relay protection testing device, and also a supplement to power amplifier. It is used to test 110V and 220V level DC relay, and it can also act as operating power source for other relay protection equipments. This paper will introduce the design of DC regulated power supply in detail.Firstly, the paper introduces the theory, history and actuality of relay protection testing devices and proposes the background and purpose of this project. Then it introduces the whole system design. The hardware section includes embedded computer system, DSP control system, power amplifier and DC regulated power supply. The software section includes application program, DSP program, PCI driver program. And then the paper introduces the design of power amplifier and DC regulated power supply. At last, it summarizes all above and points out paper's strongpoints and shortcomings.
