ZXBC automatic following and compensating Petersen coil is made up of a grounding transformer, a grounding resistor, a Petersen coil and control system. It can automatically measure, follow the operating states of electric-network, and compensate. An industrial personal computer based control system of Petersen coil is studied here. This system is developed from the old control system controlled by SCM and an industrial personal computer is introduced. It makes the design of mainboard and programs easier, and considerably enhanced measurement precision and system reliability. This system can store a mass of historical data in fault condition. And the operating states in both normal and fault conditions can be displayed on a large screen. This device can be operated from both the central control room and operator standby. It grantee the network safety when a single phase is grounded. This has great significance for reliable power supply. This paper presents the structure of other automatic following and compensating Petersen coil, and analyzes their advantages and disadvantages. So the technical goal of the control system of ZXBC Petersen coil is established. The difficulties and process of the work are described. Several measurement approaches of the capacitive current are analyzed and compared with each other. The principle of ZXBC Petersen coil is described in detail. It also demonstrates all module functions of ZXB Petersen coil software, embodies that all functions depends on software to simplify the hardware. The reliability and stability of ZXB Petersen coil is proved by industrial simulation test. At last this paper is summarized and looks forward the further research work to be developed. The results of theoretical analysis and field testing show that the new type arc-suppressing device can overcome the shortcomings of traditional ones and can provide a quick, accurate and optimal compensation to capacitive current in single-phase earth fault. It has important practical value and application prospect.
