The modular high temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) incorporated with helium turbine is considered as one of the leading candidates for future nuclear power plants. Nowadays, HTGR can provide the heat source at the temperature of 900℃. Limited by the temperature of the working fluid, steam turbine cycle cannot maximize the economic potential of HTGR. The helium is an ideal cooling fluid for the reactor due to its chemical characteristics. Helium turbine cycle has no such limitation, and such kind of nuclear power plant is of higher efficiency compared with conventional nuclear power plant because of the higher helium turbine inlet temperature. Consequently, it is expected to be a competing candidate for future concepts of high efficiency power generation. And there are two ways to do research about Helium turbine cycle in the world. The one is to design it in the real project; the other is mainly about the concept and the supposition.This article will do the basic study about characteristic of the design and the performance of the helium compressor through the experiment, it will analyze the theory, do the simulation on the basis of the experiment, expecting to find the similarity of the air compressor and the helium compressor. We build the experiment bench which will use small centrifugal compressor to compress helium in a closed cycle, then do the compress air and compress helium closed cycle experiment on the bench. Then we analyzed the data and had the compressor's characteristics of compressing air and compressing helium, and analyzed the similarity of compressing different medium in the same cycle with the same compressor. There has a blade experiment also, and do the simulation of the field of the velocity and the pressure of the blade.
