This paper focused on a Helium compressor in a particular system of high temperature gas reactor HTGR-10. The system used a direct Helium Brayton cycle for the power conversion. In this configuration, there was a strong coupling between the compressor and the other elements of the system. The estimation of compressor performances in stable and transient operations was of high importance for the designer. As one of the core technologies as helium turbine, the design of helium compressor was a hot and difficult point of the development to compressor at present. An experimental system has been build in order to get a reliable data for the designer. Under different operating pressures, the compressor behavior curves were obtained for both Helium and air. The possibility and the effective approach of designing Helium compressor with the experimental data of air compressor were studied. Simulation method used in this experiment has been given in detail, and the results show that the simulation was effective.The main content of the dissertation was research for design examples of a high pressure helium compressor by CFD technology. Using the air instead of the helium to simulate the first stage of helium compressor high-pressured section, the different physical parameters of the helium and the air, such as density, the viscosity, the specific heat ratio which causes the incompletely similar on movement and dynamic behavior have been studied, the simulation criterions which set up by methods of the determine physical parameters and differential equation method have been compared separately. The differences of two compressor agent of air and helium were compared; also the influences of this difference on the selections of simulation criterion were compared. The reasons of deviation were analysis. Simulation parameters of air which corresponded to the design parameters were given in detail.To make detailed numerical simulation calculation of helium and similar condition of air for blade row and the first stage by CFD flow calculation software, the contrast of calculation between the aerodynamic property and the CFD numerical calculation of helium and that of similar condition of air of helium compressor. Compares it with results of experiment calculation, and made a contrast analysis between two working media of helium and air. Then the fluid field was analysis. Finally, by use of the approximation approach by use the ratio of specific volume between inlet and outlet of compressor, simulation convert helium compressor property with the testing of air is feasible.
