This paper designs a monitoring and analyzing system for Valve Regulated Lead-acid Battery operating on DF Series Diesel Locomotive, which implements on-line measuring the voltage and temperature of VRAL battery and analyzing capacity of VRLA battery by transmistting-storing collected value to the application running on PC. This system analyse the state and capacity of VRAL battery by utilizing the ground application based on Visual Basic 6.0, and offering a report about the measured batteries for maintenance man.There are three parts make up of this supervising system, measure equipment, analyze and transmission equipment, and a ground application. The two fronts are hardware-equipment that is built in locomotive; the last part is application that running on PC based on Visual Basic 6.0. This system is a method of measuring on-line batteries real-timely. The measure equipment has small shape and light weight that fits to built in battery-group-box and convenient for collecting the working parameters of batteries; the analyze and transmission-module equipment is built in clear-eyed place on locomotive with LCD screen that controls the down equipment, saves and displays the measured value, also called as display equipment. The display equipment reduces the workload of the measure equipment, and is strong in disposing and analyzing enormous data. In addition, a ground application designed based on Visual Basic 6.0 cooperates with hardware equipment, loads measured values by RS-232 communication or USB store-transmission. The ground application plats history curve and prints out report form according as these data by statistical arithmetic, and offer forecast to advise maintenance man against the bad-lag batteries, so it may cut down heavy processes and offer detailed information in order to instructing maintenance of locomotive batteries.
