This paper relies on the field test of north line connection project of Wuhan Yangluo Changjiang river bridge, By means of finite element method, drawing test and the research of test road to study the mechanism of bidirectional geogrid reinforcing mealy sand embankment which is on ecumenical foundation soil. This text mostly adopt finite element method to calculate and analyse the effect of reinforced embankment which is in different embedding space, embedding level number and embedding position to compare with unreinforced embankment, research the infection happens on stress distribution of inside reinforced soil and lateral displacement of the embankmen cross section. By the contrast of spot experimental data and model experimental data based on finite element method, to analyse the effect of geogrid reinforced embankmen with different filling character, foundation soil character and geogrid modulus. The results be summarized as follows.(1) Compared with unreinforced embankment, the reinforced embankment can decrease the entirety settlement and make the transmutation equably. The geogrid can restrict the lateral displacement of soil to a certain degree, and it can advance and strengthen the whole stability of the embankment.(2) With the decrease of geogrid embedding space and the increase of geogrid level numbers, the soil pressure in the bottom of embankment gradually decrease. For example by this text, the maximal decrease extend can approach 40%.(3) Improving the character of embankment filling can decrease the settlement to a certain degree. That is to say, the effect can be more obvious by increasing the modulus of embankment filling or advancing the internal friction angle.(4) The character of foundation soil and geogrid is one of the most important influencing factors to the effect of geogrid reinforcing embankment. With the increase of foundation soil modulus and geogrid modulus, the effect of reinforcement will be strengthened.In a word, the geogrid can be used in many aspects of civil engineering, but its reinforcement mechanism is very complicated, and the correlative theory is incomplete. In this connection, this text bases on spor test, to build numerical calculation model, research the influencing factors of geogrid reinforcing embankment, discuss the influencing rule, laid the theory groundwork for the application to engineering.
