Common soil is strengthened by putting high tensile strength geosynthetics into itto form composite soil, or called reinforced soil. Reinforcement technology has beenwidely applied to various engineering including hydraulic building, road and railwayconstruction, coal mining and architecture etc, because of its contribution to theimprovement in soil strength and stability. Geo-grid is a new type of geosyntheticswith more advantages over previous ones including uniformity, high deformationmodule and tensile strength, great toughness, light weight, corrosion-proof, greatinteraction with soil grains etc. In view of these mentioned characteristics, it has beenconsidered a good reinforcement material, could be as important or permanentstructures to use. Fly ash in powder state, is one of China’s major industrial solid waste.Light weight fly ash,has big mutual action with the geosynthetics, as a geotechnicalstructures can reduce the effect of filler on the pile in the foundation load, earthpressure on retaining walls, slope of the gravity stress, while turning waste into wealth, saving construction cost, and also avoiding Ecological damage because of exploitationof sand and gravel. Until now studied with the fly ash as the reinforcement soil body’sreinforcement complex structure are relatively few,but the application prospect of flyash waste is quite extensive. This paper deals mainly with the disposal of wet fly ash of Huangdao power plant, selecting realistic engineering geogrid-reinforced materials, depending on ABAQUSwhich the American SIMULIA firm develops nonlinear finite element analysissoftware to study on the geogrid reinforced fly ash embankment slope stability in thetraffic load. The concrete content includes:(1) Described mechanical properties of geogrid in the air, fly ash medium, gravelfly ash medium. Introduced the application characteristics of the geogrid and fly ash.(2) Elaborates the geogrids and the padding interaction contact surfacecharacteristic and the reinforcement mechanism.(3) Analysis of finite element method on the geogrid reinforced fly ashembankment slope stability. Describes the ABAQUS finite element program and its basic theory. Use strength reduction factor method,to analyze the stability of theunreinforced embankment slope, reinforced embankment slope, and fly ash reinforcedembankment slopes which is filled with fly ash and gravel.Research geogrid reinforcedfly ash embankment slope optimal design method.
